Steve Karakas is a partner in the Nonbox Portland office.  He provides strategic and brand counsel to Nonbox clients. He has been instrumental in developing a unique brand development methodology for the agency. Nonbox has worked with clients in consumer products, technology and sports marketing—from global brands like adidas to a myriad of start-ups.

 

Prior to founding Nonbox, Karakas spent 16 years as a partner in KVO Advertising and Public Relations.  KVO started in 1983 and by 1999 grew to be the second largest advertising and PR firm in Portland with capitalized billings of $78 million and with 130 employees.  Before KVO, Karakas was an advertising manager for Tektronix.

 

Steve is on the board of the Intermarket Agency Network and has served on the board of a number of companies.  He has served as president of the Portland Advertising Federation, American Advertising Museum and the Portland Association of Advertising Agencies.

 

He has a degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and MBA from Portland State University.  He was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of Portland State University’s Business school.
